Arianna Huffington
Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington (Greek American) is a Greek American writer, syndicated-columnist and businesswoman. She founded The Huffington Post and the chief executive officer of Thrive Global. Author of more than 15 books. Arianna Huffington works as an writer, philanthropist and television host, and also the proprietor of The Huffington Post. She emigrated to Greece to England when she was 16 years old, and earned an MA in Economics from Cambridge University in Economics. As the first non-English speaking student to graduate, she was elected President of The Cambridge Union' at age 21. A conservative syndicated blogger, after graduating she was able to be the voice of Huffington Post. It was her celebrity that has led to the attraction of many prominent contributors to share their thoughts on news, politics and culture. Arianna's fame started in 2003, after she was a candidate for an independent in the California recall election to succeed the then governor Davis. She was also involved in the Detroit-based initiative that advocated for fuel-efficient automobiles. Forbes identified her as the most influential woman in media in 2009. She ranked 12th on the ranking. The Guardian also included her on the list of top 100 media for 2009. In the year 2011, AOL Inc. purchased The Huffington Post and made the president of that media group which included many existing AOL products, such as Engadget AOL music Style list and Patch Media. Her parents were journalist and manager Konstantinos as well as his spouse Elli Stasinopoulos. Although she had a close relationship with her father, the relationship she had with her mother shaped the rest of her life. In her earliest years she demonstrated leadership skills which are still widely admired. When she moved to England, she was sixteen to further her studies and then enrolled in Girton College Cambridge. While in college she joined the college debating society Cambridge Union where she became the first foreign and third female president. In 1972 she graduated with an advanced degree in Economics. In the years following her graduation, she became a critic columnist and television host. She also appeared with Bernard Levin in an episode of Face the music and started writing books using his editing assistance.
